Job security as a guarantee is gone. So is company loyalty. AI is speeding this up. What actually protects you isn't tenure or a generous severance package, it's having more than one way forward if the one you've got now ends.

Three kinds of backup worth having

Could another employer hire you right now, if you needed it? That's your real, current network, not just LinkedIn connections. Could you generate income another way if this job ended tomorrow? That can be as small as a freelance project, or something you already know how to do that nobody's asked you for yet. Could you work from somewhere else if you had to? Those are the three real questions, not abstract ones.

The 90-day test

If your role ended tomorrow, could you line up interviews within 90 days? Could you generate some income another way in that same window? That's the real measure, not how long you've been somewhere.

Try this right now (five minutes)

When did you last update your resume? When did you last actually talk to someone in your network, not just connect online? Do you have another way to make money if this job disappeared, yes or no? Pick your weakest answer and do one small thing about it this week: update the resume, text one person, look into one real possibility.

Where to start on the employment side?

Keeping your resume ready isn't busywork, it's exactly the kind of backup plan this is about. The Job Bridge (free) helps you find the pattern that actually repeats across your own jobs, in plain language, so you're never starting from zero if you suddenly need it.
