Antes de seguir, revisa en qué momento estásBefore you keep going, check where you're at
This page is for a few different kinds of people. If you've known for a while that you do your job well, that things don't fall apart when you're not there, the exercise further down is for you. But if you're still getting called in, showing up late, or your job feels shaky right now, this part is for you first. It's not a personality flaw. It's a pattern, and patterns can change.
Being someone a boss can leave alone and trust to finish the job is the first thing they notice, before anything else. That means showing up at the exact time you were scheduled, not the time you thought it was. Doing the task without being told twice. Saying something before it goes wrong, not after.
Después, cómo lo dicesThen, how you say it
Nobody's asking you to talk more. They're asking you to say something before it happens, not after. A text to your supervisor before your shift starts, not after it was supposed to. Two clear sentences instead of a long paragraph. Saying "I didn't get that, can you show me again" instead of guessing wrong.
Y si eres tú el supervisorAnd if you're the supervisor
There really are difficult bosses out there. But a lot of them aren't bad people, they're people who were never taught how to handle pressure without taking it out on someone else. If that's you, ask for help in a specific way: not "I need leadership training," but "I need to learn how to give instructions without it sounding like a scolding" or "I need to handle conflict without it turning personal." Ask for this soon after you're promoted, or right after a bad moment, not in the middle of a crisis. If your company doesn't have a budget for it, ask for a book, ask to shadow someone who's good at it, or look for free or cheap supervisor workshops at a community college or a small business development center near you. They almost always exist, even if nobody mentions them first.
Once this part stops being a question for a few weeks in a row, the exercise further down will actually be worth your time.
Most advice about changing jobs tells you to find your "transferable skills" and put them on a resume. The problem is you end up with a summary that sounds right and feels empty.
The real transfer isn't in the words. It's in the shape of the work: what you were trusted with, what would have broken without you, who you had to work through to get it done. This tool asks you those four questions for two of your own jobs, and helps you see what repeats.
Un ejemplo real primeroA real example first
My own path: fast food, then a cafeteria, then admin work on a family construction project, then retail, then office jobs, before I ever wrote an engineering proposal. None of those jobs look connected on paper. But in every one of them I was trusted with money and inventory, tracked details nobody else wanted to track, worked through people above and below me, and taught myself the tools I needed. That's what actually carried me from one to the next, not a fancy resume word.
Prueba esto con dos de tus propios trabajosTry this with two of your own jobs
Write in plain language, don't reach for the "right" resume word yet. What you write is saved only in your own browser, on this device, it isn't sent to us.
Trabajo 1Job 1
Trabajo 2Job 2
In both jobs, I was the person who ___, even though nobody called it that."
Don't invent a skill you never used because it sounds better. If the real shape of two jobs is "I kept things from falling apart when nobody was watching," write that down. It holds up better than a word borrowed from a job posting, because it's true.

Finding the pattern is the first step. The next one is getting the right people to actually notice it in your current job. The Visibility Playbook ($69) is built exactly for that, with a Skills Reality Check as one of its four bonus guides.
