Antes de Axtorra, antes de todo esto, era simplemente alguien que no conseguía trabajo. Apliqué y apliqué y apliqué. Nada. No quería perder dinero pasando por una agencia de empleo temporal, así que decidí ser mi propia agencia.
Registré una LLC, hice unos volantes y los repartí yo misma, caminando de negocio en negocio. No tardó demasiado. En poco tiempo tenía tres trabajos a la vez, medio tiempo en cada uno.
La parte de la que nadie te avisa: el momento más solitario no fue el papeleo de la LLC ni hacer mis propios impuestos por primera vez, aunque nunca había hecho ninguna de las dos cosas. Fue el tramo en el que no pasaba nada todavía. Sin resultados que mostrar, sin nada que compartir. Seguía diciendo: "todavía no tengo nada."
Todavía recuerdo entrar a una oficina con tacones altos y un vestido de terciopelo, la ropa menos indicada para repartir un volante de trabajo administrativo. Ni siquiera recuerdo por qué elegí esa ropa. Pero ese volante me consiguió un puesto cubriendo a alguien que salía de licencia de maternidad, y ese trabajo se convirtió en la carrera que hice de tiempo completo por años.
No tenía un plan. Tenía volantes y la disposición de repartirlos de todos modos.
Por qué te cuento esto
Es básicamente la idea completa detrás del curso que hice, "Cómo un pequeño favor se convierte en un negocio". No se trata de un plan maestro. Se trata de notar lo que tienes enfrente, hacer lo siguiente que puedas hacer, y dejar que eso te lleve a algo más.

Before Axtorra, before any of this, I was just someone who couldn't find a job. I applied and applied and applied. Nothing. I didn't want to lose money going through a temp agency, so I decided to become my own agency instead.
I registered an LLC, made some flyers, and walked them around to businesses myself. It didn't take too long. Within a bit I had three gigs going at once, part time at each.
The part nobody warns you about: the loneliest moment wasn't the LLC paperwork or doing my own taxes for the first time, though I'd never done either. It was the stretch where nothing was happening yet. No traction, no results to point to. I kept saying, "I don't have anything yet."
I still remember walking into an office in high heels and a velvet dress, completely wrong for handing out an admin flyer. I don't even remember why I picked that outfit. But that flyer landed me a job covering for someone on maternity leave, and that job turned into the career I did full time for years.
I didn't have a plan. I had flyers and a willingness to walk them around anyway.
